Classical capacities and complementary simulation for qubit Davies channels
Citable version that has not completed AIRR screening. Not peer reviewed. Screening record
We extend the thermal block entropy estimate for generalized amplitude damping to the full qubit Davies region, including additional dephasing. The proof combines the triangular inequality of Tang, Zhu, Bai and Wang with a controlled-purification consequence of strong subadditivity: a third vertex completes the fixed-entropy decomposition used for the thermal boundary. The resulting population-resolved bound holds with every finite-dimensional partner. It implies strong superadditivity of the convex roof of output entropy, and hence arbitrary-partner additivity of Holevo information and classical capacity for both the Davies channel and its complementary channel. We give scalar convex-envelope formulas for both capacities. Every bipartite state supported on the two-dimensional Stinespring range has strongly additive entanglement of formation, so its state entanglement cost requires no regularization. A scalar moment program evaluates that formation functional for arbitrary input coherence. The state/channel correspondence, complement duality and existing axial convex-roof geometry are explicitly attributed to prior work. A normalized reverse channel stays within the Davies region, allowing us also to remove regularization from the parallel entanglement cost of the complementary channel. We obtain an elementary rate in a known flat-roof region and exhibit a nonunital example whose simulation cost strictly exceeds the cost of its Choi state. Finite-block and numerical bounds support the results. The triangular theorem remains an external dependency; the original channel's simulation cost, adaptive simulation and quantum capacity are not determined.

The reports (claude-sonnet-5-5 and claude-haiku-5-5) were produced by Claude Code subagents (Sonnet 5.5 / Haiku 5.5) in an imperfect clean room: disk access, inherited project instructions, no verifiable isolation. review_context and runtime_provenance are therefore omitted; independence is recorded as unknown. Model JSON is preserved unedited under registry/assessment-evidence/2026-10-21-claude-subagents/ and each evidence.json lists the operator edits (placeholder ids filled, independence set to unknown, assessed_at set to file modification time). Adjudication dated 21 October 2026 by the author's Claude research session (not independent of the author, not a human referee); reports unedited. Haiku 5.5 (major_revision, 2.50): subadditivity (17) is NOT CONFIRMED as an error; main.tex lines 492-510 cite Tang-Zhu-Bai-Wang (arXiv 2609.28592, Appendix C) and Lemma C.2 there states (C.4) for arbitrary finite-dimensional channels with the same entropy chain; the sketch is terse (editorial remark) but no logical gap was shown. VALID observation: arXiv 2609.14621 (Fang, 2026) claims the classical capacity of GAD channels equals the one-copy Holevo quantity, overlapping Theorem 1 on the GAD boundary, and is not cited; its proof was not read. Sonnet 5.5 (major_revision, 4.40): dependence on external Lemma 2 (Tang Thm 4.2 / OpenAI note) is material and cannot be adjudicated as an error; it remains a declared external dependence, unverified by the adjudicator. Assessed the exact artifact paper.pdf (15 pages; SHA-256 matches SHA256.txt). The manuscript claims a population-resolved thermal inequality (Thm 4) that extends the Tang et al. / OpenAI boundary lambda^2 = k to lambda^2 < k with a third vertex. From it follow Holevo additivity with arbitrary partner for generalized amplitude damping with extra dephasing (Thm 1), strong convex-roof superadditivity and a state-cost statement (Thm 6, Cor 7), a complementary-channel parallel simulation cost (Thm 9, Thm 10), a closed form in a region (Cor 11), and a strict Choi-cost separation example (Prop 12). I checked by hand the vertex decomposition of Thm 4 against Lemma 2, the parameter map of Lemma 5, identity (21), the Prop 14 bound, and the Prop 12 arithmetic (J'(1/2) > 0; minimum of v equals 5/56). I found no error that invalidates a main claim. Limitations: the core inequality depends on Lemma 2, an external triangular entropy inequality I did not verify; eq. (17) and its Kraus argument, the arbitrary-partner EoF step, and parts of Thm 9-10 are sketched; numerical values and the supplement were not checked; no code was run and no sources were browsed. The recommendation is major_revision because of these unproven steps and the external dependence, not because of a confirmed error.
- Correctness confidence
- Hand-checked without running code: Thm 4 vertex weights (nonnegative via alpha*delta - beta*eta >= K^2), marginal coefficients, Lemma 5 parameters, identity (21), Prop 14 bound, g'(m), sign of J'(1/2) in Prop 12, and min v = 5/56. No error found. Cited results (Lemma 2, Berta et al., MSW) not verified.
- Rigor
- Main chain (Lemma 5 to Thm 1, Thm 6, Thm 9) is argued step by step. Only sketched: subadditivity (17) and its Kraus argument in Thm 10, the arbitrary-partner EoF step after Cor 7, the 'repeat the proof' step in Thm 9, and floating-point tables with no certified intervals.
- Novelty
- Mainly extends the Tang et al. and OpenAI boundary lambda^2 = k to lambda^2 < k, plus complementary-channel consequences. The paper disclaims several results itself (Cor 7 formula, flat roof, Hellmund-Uhlmann threshold). Priority of the extension against the literature was not checked.
- Significance
- Gives additivity and a simulation-cost formula for one qubit family with extra dephasing, and a strict Choi-cost separation example. Scope is memoryless use of phase-covariant qubit channels; adaptive, quantum and private capacities are excluded by the paper itself.
- Reproducibility
- The main chain is explicit enough to follow. The supplement (scripts, proof dossier) was not accessed. Numerical results are floating point, as the paper states. Several steps depend on external proofs, which is the basis for the major_revision recommendation.
Strengths
- The Thm 4 vertex decomposition is consistent: weights are nonnegative (beta*U1 + eta*U0 <= u follows from alpha*delta - beta*eta >= K^2), and the coefficients of S(XX*) and S(YY*) match alpha+eta and beta+delta.
- Lemma 5 follows from Thm 4 with X = L_j psi_0 and Y = L_j psi_1. The parameters sum to 1, and alpha*delta - beta*eta = k p(1-p) >= lambda^2 p(1-p) = K^2, as required.
- Identity (21) is an exact decomposition with nonnegative terms given the one-site bound and Cor 13. The Prop 14 error bound follows from the interpolation estimate and the convex-hull identity.
- The paper separates cited inputs (Lemma 2, Berta et al., Hellmund-Uhlmann, MSW) from its own steps and states an explicit scope that excludes adaptive, quantum and private capacities.
Weaknesses
- The new inequality is a reduction to Lemma 2, an external triangular inequality that is stated but not proved in the paper. The core chain therefore depends on a result this review could not verify.
- Eq. (17), the subadditivity of channel formation used in Thm 10, is only sketched. The Kraus argument does not show explicitly that the decompositions chosen for the two marginals are admissible for the joint purified input.
- The claim E_F(omega tensor tau) = E_F(omega) + E_F(tau) for every finite tau is a strong statement. Its proof is a short lift through Thm 6. The exact class of omega should be stated and compared with Matsumoto-Shimono-Winter.
- The one-step bound for Phi^c in Thm 9 is obtained by 'repeating the proof' rather than written out. The multi-copy step in Thm 10 uses the complement of a tensor power, which is handled only implicitly.
- Numerical values in Section 8 and the separation example are floating point and uncertified, as the paper states. They cannot by themselves support the strict-separation or closed-form claims.
Potential errors
- Possible gap: S(BB'|IJ) <= S(B|IJ) + S(B'|IJ) is used in the proof of (17). It holds for classical labels I, J, but the text states this only in passing.
- Scope mismatch: the abstract speaks of every bipartite state supported on the two-dimensional Stinespring range, while Cor 7 and its proof use only states V sigma V* for Davies-family Stinespring isometries. The two statements should be aligned.
- Prop 12 requires E_C(J_N) = G(1/2)/ln2 via Cor 7, and G_N(p) = J(p) on a neighbourhood of p = 1/2. The neighbourhood is argued only through the sign of a quadratic coefficient, which is not a full proof.
- Cor 11 imports the flat-concurrence threshold of Hellmund-Uhlmann as a citation rather than rederiving it. The closed form inherits any error in that citation, which I did not check.
Strong novelty candidates
- Thm 4, the population-resolved thermal inequality with extra dephasing, and its use in Lemma 5, which extends the lambda^2 = k boundary to lambda^2 < k. Candidate only, pending independent verification of Lemma 2 and the literature.
- Cor 11 and Prop 12: a closed-form complementary parallel simulation cost in a region, and a strict separation from the Choi-state cost. Candidate only, pending confirmation of the simulation-cost identities.

The manuscript extends a block entropy inequality (external triangular lemma of Tang et al./OpenAI) from the thermal boundary lambda^2=k to the whole qubit Davies region by adding a third vertex from strong subadditivity, and derives from it unrestricted Holevo additivity and a scalar convex-envelope formula for the classical capacity of Davies channels and their complements, a strong additivity of state formation cost on the Stinespring range, and a parallel-simulation cost for the complementary channel (with a nonunital example strictly above the Choi-state cost). In my reading the internal arguments I could check are sound and the claims are carefully scoped. The main caveats are dependence on an external, very recent triangular inequality I could not verify, terse proofs in several places, and numerical evidence I did not reproduce. Nothing I found invalidates a main result.
- Correctness confidence
- I re-derived by hand the three-vertex decomposition of Thm 4 (vertices A, B, C, weights, matrix forms vs Lemma 2/3), the phase-independence of pure-output entropy e(p), the upper/lower bounds in Thm 1, and the arithmetic of Prop 12 (reversed parameters, J'(1/2)=0.1 ln(2^6 3^9/7^7)>0). No error found. Correctness still rests on the external Lemma 2 (Tang et al.; OpenAI note), which I did not verify.
- Rigor
- Scope, antecedents and non-claims are stated explicitly; boundary cases (zero row mass, u=0, endpoints) are treated; numerical results are labelled as non-certified. Some proofs are terse (Thm 6 complement step, Thm 9 covariance averaging, Thm 10 closure/continuity, 'maximum at p=1/2' in Cor 11) and would need expansion for a referee to check line by line.
- Novelty
- The new step is a third vertex (via strong subadditivity/Lemma 3) extending the Tang et al./OpenAI thermal-boundary inequality to the full Davies interior, plus the reverse-channel closure for simulation. The state/channel correspondence, complement duality and convex-roof geometry are explicitly antecedent. I did not search the literature, so priority is unchecked; the increment is real but technical and modest.
- Significance
- Gives additivity of Holevo information and a scalar capacity formula for all qubit Davies channels (including complements) and a parallel-simulation cost with a nonunital strict-separation example. Useful and well-scoped for a narrow family; original-channel simulation, adaptive cost, quantum and private capacity are left open, as the paper admits.
- Reproducibility
- Formulas are explicit and Prop 14 gives a discretization error bound. However, numerical tables and 16000/9000-instance audit claims depend on a supplement I could not see; scripts are said not to use certified interval arithmetic. I ran no code and recomputed no table value except the hand-checked Prop 12 numbers.
Strengths
- Three-vertex decomposition in Thm 4 checks out by hand: vertex matrices reproduce the stated row masses and off-diagonal K, and Lemma 2/3 give the required entropy terms.
- Clear separation of antecedent results from new contributions; explicit non-claims (original-channel simulation, adaptive, quantum capacity, region lambda^2>k).
- Strict separation example (Prop 12) is exact-arithmetic and its numbers (reversed parameters, derivative sign) are verified by me.
- Honest disclosure of AI-assisted development, non-certified numerics and absence of human peer review.
Weaknesses
- Whole programme depends on Lemma 2, cited from two 2026 preprints/notes (arXiv:2609.28592v1 and an OpenAI repository note); I did not fetch or verify either.
- Several proofs are sketches: complement case of Thm 6, covariance/averaging argument in Thm 9, continuity and boundary handling in Thm 10, and the claim that p=1/2 is the global maximizer in Cor 11.
- Numerical tables and audit counts are not reproducible from the PDF alone and are not interval-certified.
- Significance limited to a one-parameter-family of qubit channels; no treatment of the phase-covariant region lambda^2>k.
Potential errors
- Prop 12 uses concavity of the reversed-parameter entropy e_p on an open interval around p=1/2 (via negative quadratic coefficient) to equate G with J(p); this passage is brief and the interval of validity is not stated explicitly.
- Thm 10 equality rests on the reverse-channel construction W_p and on 'establishing' continuity/maximizer existence for G; boundary values t=0,1 and p=0,1 are handled by short remarks only.
- Prop 14 Lipschitz constant degenerates as min v -> 0; the paper notes this and gives no finite-L bound there.
Strong novelty candidates
- Closure of the Davies family under the normalized reverse-channel construction (parameters (19)), enabling the strong formation additivity to be applied to the complementary-channel simulation task.
- Extension of the thermal triangular entropy inequality to the interior lambda^2<k by a third vertex.

The manuscript extends the thermal block entropy inequality to the qubit Davies family with additional dephasing, and derives from it a population-resolved bound (Lemma 5, Theorem 4), a Holevo capacity formula with additivity (Theorem 1), a strong convex-roof superadditivity (Theorem 6), a complementary-channel capacity formula (Theorem 9) and parallel simulation results (Theorem 10, Corollary 11, Proposition 12). I checked the block-matrix vertex decomposition and the population/coherence identification in Lemma 5 by hand, and ran random numerical tests of Theorem 4, Lemma 5, and the external Lemma 2 and Lemma 3 (no violation). Theorem 1 capacity values in Section 8 were reproduced numerically. The chain Lemma 5 to Theorem 1 additivity and Theorem 6 is logically consistent. The unproven step is the subadditivity (17) of channel formation, which the text only sketches, and it is needed for the equalities in Theorem 10, eq. (18) and Corollary 11. The Proposition 12 separation additionally needs the lower bound G_N(p) >= J(p) near p = 1/2, which is asserted but not written out. The bibliography also has unverified items (reference [3] not found; reference [2] found by title only), and the paper does not cite arXiv:2609.14621, which overlaps Theorem 1 on the GAD boundary. Scope: this is a review of this exact PDF only, based on my reading and on numerical spot checks, not on a formal verification or on the cited sources in full.
- Correctness confidence
- Theorem 4 vertex decomposition (Sec. 2) and Lemma 5 block identification (Sec. 3) were checked by hand and by random numerical tests (no violation, residuals about 1e-15). Lemma 2 (external) and Lemma 3 were spot-checked numerically only. Eq. (17) and the equalities in Theorem 10, eq. (18) and Corollary 11 are not established by the text.
- Rigor
- Theorem 1 achievability and converse, Theorem 6 and Theorem 9 follow from Lemma 5 and Lemma 2 with no gap found in the logic. Main gaps: sketched subadditivity (17), a garbled entropy chain in its proof, and an asserted endpoint-chord identity G=J near p=1/2 used in Proposition 12.
- Novelty
- The paper states it does not claim Davies dynamics, the unital case, or the Hellmund-Uhlmann flat-roof criterion. arXiv:2609.14621 (Fang, 2026) reports that the GAD classical capacity equals the one-copy Holevo quantity, which overlaps Theorem 1 on the GAD boundary and is not cited. Novelty is limited to the extension to the full Davies family and the complementary/simulation statements.
- Significance
- Results concern a single-qubit phase-covariant family. The capacity formula reduces to known cases (identity, constant channel). The parallel simulation results depend on the unproven step (17), so their significance is conditional.
- Reproducibility
- The capacity table in Section 8 was reproduced to about 1e-9 on a grid (a=0.10, b=0.30 with lambda^2 = 0.60, 0.50, 0.10 and a=0.02, b=0.30 with lambda^2 = 0.514624). The Proposition 12 numbers (J(1/2) = 0.704192 bits, maximizer near 0.51695 with value 0.704713) and the Corollary 11 example (0.600874 bits) were reproduced by hand. The paper states that the scripts do not certify intervals. The OpenAI reference [3] could not be located, and the Tang et al. reference [2] was located only by title.
Strengths
- Lemma 5 block identification is correct: Phi(|0><1|) = lambda |0><1|, the population map gives alpha, beta, eta, delta as stated, and alpha+beta+eta+delta = 1 and alpha*delta - beta*eta = k p(1-p) >= K^2 (checked by hand and numerically).
- Theorem 4 vertex argument is correct in the stated coefficient triangle (vertices A, B, C; weights w_A = beta U1/u, w_B = eta U0/u); each vertex bound follows from Lemma 2 or Lemma 3 as stated.
- Random numerical tests of Theorem 4 (10010 cases), Lemma 3 (4000), Lemma 2 (4000) and Lemma 5 (3000 explicit channels) found no violation (minimum residual about -1e-15).
- The Theorem 1 capacity values in the Section 8 table were reproduced on a grid (0.503934606, 0.407849860, 0.296671802, 0.436551160 bits).
- Corollary 11 example (a=0.1, b=0.3, lambda^2=0.5 gives 0.600874 bits) and Proposition 12 numbers (J(1/2) = 0.704192 bits, J'(1/2) > 0, maximizer near 0.51695 with value 0.704713) were reproduced.
- Proposition 14 (discretization bound) is correct: the piecewise-linear error is at most 2L theta(1-theta)/N, and convex envelopes preserve uniform error bounds.
- The paper is candid about scope: it disclaims the unital, entanglement-breaking and flat-roof cases as its own, and it states what is not determined.
Weaknesses
- Eq. (17), subadditivity of channel formation E^ch_F(M x L) <= E^ch_F(M) + E^ch_F(L), is argued in a few lines. The step 'choose Kraus decompositions optimal for the two marginal input states of a joint purified input' does not justify the reduction for entangled joint inputs. Theorem 10, eq. (18) and the equality in Corollary 11 depend on it.
- Proposition 12 needs the lower bound G_N(p) >= J(p) near p = 1/2. The text asserts that the endpoint-chord argument gives G_N = J exactly, but the lower-bound step is not written out (only the chord value and the concavity of e_p are shown).
- Corollary 11 proof: the flatness step f_p(t) = e_p(t) = g((1-x)p(1-p)) is asserted by direct substitution and not displayed.
- Theorem 6 (strong convex-roof superadditivity for arbitrary N) is a strong claim. The chain from Lemma 5 is logically consistent, but the paper does not compare it with known non-additivity results in the literature.
- Reference [3] (OpenAI, Sept 2026) could not be located by search. Reference [2] (Tang et al., arXiv:2609.28592) was located only by title, so the cited statements Theorem 4.2 and Section 5 are unverified. Lemma 2 is an external dependency for Theorem 4 and Theorem 1.
- Novelty: arXiv:2609.14621 (Fang, 2026) reports that the GAD classical capacity equals the one-copy Holevo quantity, which overlaps Theorem 1 on the GAD boundary and is not cited.
- Section 8 numerics are floating-point only and are not interval-certified, as the paper states. The sampled values in Proposition 12 are therefore not evidence for the strict inequality.
Potential errors
- Proof of eq. (17): the displayed chain 'S(BB'|IJ) <= S(B|I) + S(B'|IJ) <= S(B|I) + S(B'|J)' is garbled; the chain rule and the conditioning step need to be written explicitly.
- Proof of Theorem 1: the second output marginal is written as omega-bar_B, but it is the marginal on the complementary output B' (notation).
- Theorem 9 proof says the complementary phase-averaging step 'cannot decrease its output entropy'; the direction needed (average output entropy at most H_E of the mean population) holds by covariance and concavity but is not written out.
- Proposition 12: 'Theorem 10 identifies the channel cost with its maximum formation' is used both for the identity and for the lower bound. The lower bound uses only product inputs, while the identity needs eq. (17); the text should separate the two.
Strong novelty candidates
- Theorem 1 additivity for the full Davies family via Lemma 5 (checked; the GAD boundary overlaps arXiv:2609.14621).
- Proposition 12 strict separation between the parallel simulation cost and the Choi-state cost, conditional on the lower bound G_N(p) >= J(p) near p = 1/2 being established.
Unresolved material objections
- Eq. (17) (subadditivity of channel formation for arbitrary M and L) is not established by the given argument, which reduces the joint entangled-input case to marginal Kraus decompositions without justification and displays a garbled chain. The upper bounds behind Theorem 10, the identity E^par_C = max formula in eq. (18) and the equality in Corollary 11 depend on it, so these results are unproven as stated.

The manuscript extends a recent triangular block-entropy inequality (Tang et al. 2026; OpenAI 2026) from amplitude damping and generalized amplitude damping on the boundary lambda^2=k to the whole qubit Davies region 0<=lambda^2<=k, via a third vertex obtained from strong subadditivity, and derives: a population-resolved output-entropy bound, strong convex-roof superadditivity, additivity of Holevo information and classical capacity C=chi for the channel and its complement with any partner, an explicit scalar convex-envelope formula, formation entropy in the Stinespring range, and parallel simulation cost of the complementary channel via a reverse-channel closure, plus a nonunital example where simulation cost strictly exceeds Choi-state cost. My hand check of the main derivations (Thm 4, Lemma 5, Thm 1, Prop 12 arithmetic) found them consistent. The central dependence on Lemma 2, a 2026 result I could not verify, and uncertified numerics are the principal reasons for a major-revision rating; no internal error was found. I did not execute code or read supplementary files.
- Correctness confidence
- I rechecked by hand the three-vertex decomposition of Theorem 4 (vertex coefficients, weights, determinant u, Lemma 3 entropy g(u)), the Lemma 5 parameter identification (alpha delta - beta eta = k p(1-p) >= lambda^2 p(1-p)), the Theorem 1 converse/achievability logic, and the arithmetic of Proposition 12 (reversed parameters 1/4, 1/8, 5/8, 5/48 sum correctly; 1259712 > 823543). I found no error. However the whole result rests on Lemma 2, an external 2026 inequality that I could not verify; that caps my confidence.
- Rigor
- Proofs are explicit, boundary cases are treated (zero row mass, u=0, p=0,1, t=0,1), external theorems are stated precisely with their sources, and numerical results are labeled as floating-point illustrations. Some steps are terse (convex-roof concavity/continuity in Section 6, Carathéodory-type extremal-measure arguments in Prop. 8 and eq. (10)) and are asserted rather than fully worked.
- Novelty
- The extension from the amplitude-damping/pure-output boundary (lambda^2=k) to the full Davies region, strong convex-roof superadditivity, complement capacity additivity, reverse-channel closure inside the Davies family and the nonunital strict Choi-cost separation appear to be new relative to the cited work; the paper is honest that the key inequality is not its own. My web searches (two queries) located arXiv 2609.28592 but gave no evidence of a prior full-Davies additivity proof; I could not read the OpenAI note or the full text of 2609.28592, so priority is unchecked.
- Significance
- If correct, additivity of Holevo information and a single-letter classical capacity for all qubit Davies channels (including the complementary channel) would settle a long-standing class (generalized amplitude damping) and give a nontrivial simulation-cost result. The value is largely derivative of the Tang et al./OpenAI inequality, and the result is confined to one-qubit memoryless channels, so it is strong but not field-shaping.
- Reproducibility
- Formulas are explicit and examples have exact parameters, but the scripts and supplement were not available to me, I ran no code, and the numerical tables (e.g., capacity 0.5039 bits, 4-signal optimizers) are unverified by me. The author states no interval certification was done.
Strengths
- Clear, honest delineation of antecedents (Tang et al., OpenAI, Hellmund-Uhlmann, Wilde, Amosov) and of what is not claimed (original channel simulation cost, quantum capacity, adaptive tasks).
- Third-vertex argument in Thm 4 is short and checks out, including the sharpness remark (X=Y gives equality).
- Reverse-channel closure inside the Davies family (k_p, lambda_p^2 <= k_p) is a neat, verifiable structural step enabling the simulation result.
- Exact rational counterexample in Prop 12 with checkable arithmetic; careful limitation statements.
Weaknesses
- All main theorems depend on Lemma 2, an external 2026 inequality not proved here; one of the sources is a non-peer-reviewed repository note.
- Several steps are sketched (continuity and concavity of G_M, extremal measures with at most two/three atoms, Kraus infimum arguments, passage from Choi-state cost to reverse-channel Stinespring range).
- Numerical evidence (tables, 16000 block tests, 'Astra' audits) is floating-point only, not certified, and not independent; the AI-assisted process and prior AI review are disclosed but unreviewed by humans.
- Scope limited to lambda^2 <= k (not the full phase-covariant CP region lambda^2 <= k+ab), and to the complementary channel for simulation cost; original channel simulation cost remains open.
- Section 8 Lipschitz constant and hull-optimizer claims use m>0 and exclude boundary cases.
Potential errors
- Prop. 12: equality G_N(p)=J(p) near p=1/2 requires the concavity condition (negative quadratic coefficient of the reversed determinant) to hold at the relevant interior reversed-population argument for p in an open interval; the manuscript states this briefly and I only checked it at p=1/2 (5/48 - 25/64 = -55/192).
- Section 6: existence of a diagonal maximizer of G_{Phi^c} by phase-averaging and concavity of G_M relies on an inf-over-Kraus argument whose handling of singular inputs is only outlined.
- Eq. (10)/Prop. 8: finite-support extremality (at most two or three populations) is argued by perturbation without explicit treatment of endpoint atoms and the moment constraint together.
- Theorem 6 for Phi^c uses S(N^c(psi_j)) = S(N(psi_j)) for pure conditional branches; valid, but the identification of the Stinespring dilation used in Section 5 with the one in Lemma 5 is not spelled out.
Strong novelty candidates
- Additivity of Holevo information and classical capacity (chi = C, any finite-dimensional partner) for all qubit Davies channels with extra dephasing (lambda^2 <= k), including the complementary channel.
- Nonunital qubit complementary channel whose parallel simulation cost strictly exceeds the cost of its Choi state (Prop. 12), via reverse-channel closure in the Davies family.
- Three-vertex extension (Thm 4) of the triangular block-entropy inequality to the thermal interior.
Unresolved material objections
- The principal results rest on Lemma 2 (Tang et al. 2026, Thm 4.2; OpenAI 2026, Thm 2.1), an external inequality not proved in the manuscript and which I could not independently verify; if it fails in the stated generality (same finite rectangular shape, zero-weight conventions), Theorems 1, 4, 6, 9 and 10 fail.
